Gucci Bamboo shopper

Gucci. A top of the game, creme de la creme of designer accessories. There’s more than just ‘something’ about Gucci that gets my heart fluttering and causes my mind to enter a state of Gucci-phoria. It’s the combustible combination of quality, elegance and edge which when slung across your shoulder can add miles and miles of oomph to your outfit. There’s no over-doing your look when you’re rocking a Gucci and personally, there’s not one thing that can steal my heart quite like Gucci bags can, especially the icon Gucci Bamboo bag.

The large shopper makes a purrrrfect Airport bag and the meduim size make’s a wonderful shopper and evening tote. Which one would you go for? I just might have to have both:)

The Gucci Bamboo Shopper comes in Black, nutmeg brown, Red,Pink, metalic soft gold and, blue and white

Large Gucci Bamboo shopper £1,390

Meduim Gucci bamboo Shopper  £1,230

Perfect size for day and evening glamour

The Gucci Bamboo made its first debut in 1947 and has continued to steal hearts of many for the last 66 years. The genius artisans milked, for lack of a better term, the period of rationing materials during the war and creatively used the abundance of bamboo canes to create the handbag handle by heating the material and shaping it into a semi circle. For the main body of the original Bamboo bag, pebbled pig skin material was used.

The evolution of Gucci Bamboo has seen the pebbled pig skin material be replaced with leather / printed canvas / printed calf hair and many others.

The icon bag hasn’t failed to find itself draped across the arms of royalty, silver screen starlets and celebrities to date. From the likes of Elizabeth Taylor to Princess Diana in recent history, to Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez in present time, its undeniable beauty continues to reign in the spotlight, its rightful place.

THE NEW JEANS for 2011

THE FLARED/BELLBOTTOM JEANS  are back in a big way for fall

LOVE IT OR HATE IT?

Will you be ignoring the trend and sticking with your skinny jean and denim jeggings, or embracing it wholeheartedly?

SPY’s STYLE TIP

All you Bohemian types seem to have an inherent affinity for flares and bell-bottoms, I have a pair of the J Brand Lovestory. It pairs beautifully with clogs and and a peasant or gypsy blouse but the flare doesn’t have to be hippie!

Try wearing yours in a more sophisticated way buy teaming them with an elegant fitted silk shirt, cognac accessories or try them in white denim for a Carolyn Bessette-on-the-Italian Riviera look.

Spy’s Top tip is to buy a pair with a little restraint- don’t choose a pair that is too belled or flared. 7 For All Mankind  and Paige do some great styles.

CLAUDIA SCHIFFER AND GWYNETH PALTROW

Celebrities are adding some laid back style to their daytime looks by wearing flared jeans. They took their  inspirations from Gucci and Marc Jacobs 70′s-inspired collections. Gwyneth Paltrow teamed her Marrakesh Jeans with brown boots to travel in style at Heathrow airport, while Claudia Schiffer wore her ultra slimming dark flares with a waist cinching belt…and drinking my favourite coffee-a Starbucks Frappucino!

Wide Legs Jeans or Bell Bottom

KATIE HOLMES

VICTORIA BECKHAM

Wide legged or Bellbottom’s were a very popular fashion trend in the years of 60′s to 70′s. It is fitted tightly at the hips and loose from the knee downwards whilst flaring from the thigh which is perfect for hiding larger thighs. You can wear with heels to lengthen your legs for maximum effect. Suitable for all body styles and great for hiding a not-so-perfect legs.

Flare Cut Jeans

The flared cut jeans is narrow at the thigh and knee, and then widens at the calf. It is one of the most sought jeans by all celebrities maybe because it never out of style and it is common to wear at any occasions. It is perfect for balancing a curvy figure and athletic thighs, making your legs look ludicrously long and giving you an elegant outline. High heels and stilettos are other most befitting footwear.

Color Trends 2011

WHICH COLOR OF THE RAINBOW ARE YOU?

Well after a season of grey and beige it’s like the designers have gone mad for dazzling brights this season. You can wear them from head to toe or clash them in fantastic combinations like purple and red, green and Pink the choice is yours. Fabrics which make this look work and give it that expensive look are rich fabrics such as taffeta, silk and  duchess satin. if the whole colour story brings you out in a rash, try pairing a single bright piece with a simple t-shirt. The other great alternative to nod to the trend is by choosing or accessorizing with a bag , shoe or belt.

LOVE IN BLUE

Stella McCartney showed off her models in denim dresses. They were boxy shapes and tunics. Derek Lam and Elie Tahari also presented Spring 2011 women’s denim fashion. High-waisted denim at Elie Tahari was sooo wonderful! Want want want!

ELIE TAHARI 2011

STELLA McCARTNEY 2011

Making a pleasant entry in Spring 2011 denim fashion trend for women are denim blazers, denim medium short skirts, long skirts, denim wide leg pants, classic cut denim jeans, denim medium shorts, denim shirts, denim detailing…Denim rules 7 days a week!!

Color is so big this season that two, three, four or five bright colors were combined to create one amazing statement. Turquoise..ummmmmmm love that color as it reminds me of the Seychelles waters and romantic holidays! Well we all know turquoise looks fantastic with white, but this season it’s being paired with yellow.  My favourite match made in heaven is when it’s paired with brown. We have Blumarine, Tim Van Steenbergen, Richie Rich, and Christian Siriano to thank!

Floor length dresses and maxi dresses are storming in the style stakes and it’s no wonder when you see amazing dresses like this one in Jenny Packman 2011 collection. Chiffon and sheer fabrics are this seasons choice in fabric.

DIOR SHOE

LOVE IN WHITE

John Galliano, Dolce and Gabanna, Rag and Bone,

Purity and minimalism doesn’t cease to impress designers over and over again, this way fueling the reputation of the all white fashion trend. The Spring/Summer 2011 all white fashion trend mesmerizes the public with its blinding and at the same time heart-warming visual impression. It shouts out modern and sophisticated glamour in a sexily undone way. A white blazer or jacket is Spy’s top must have item for Summer 2011.

ALEXANDER WANG BAGS

LOVE IN NUDES

Chloe, Alexander Wang, Lanvin,Alberta Ferretti

I so love this color and if you didn’t dip your toes into this trend in 2010 then you must give it ago this summer. It oozes sophistication and is a welcome break to this seasons rainbow of color. Think blush, beige, light bronze, milky coffee. pick a nude to complete your outfit as the Nude shoe is in pole position in the heel Race!

YSL TRIBUTE PLATFORM SHOE

COLOR

Jil Sander

It is said by adding color into your wardrobe can play a significant role in your mood throughout the day. It is important to find different colors that are flattering on your skin tone. If you have fair skin, stick to emerald green, coral, and blues. If you have a darker complexion, try bright shades like pink, yellow or red. Mix and match different hues together. Don’t be afraid of color contrasting, instead follow the trend and watch your mood begin to change.

VERSUS BAG

LOVE IN TANGERINE

Paul and Joe, Dior, Calvin Klein,Fendi,Gucci

Fantastic zesty shades of orange give you a bright youthful flair and definitely can add juicy to your looks!  Try taming the orange by using contrasting colors to calm the shade in the form of accessories.  Take a tip from the  fashion designers by adding a touch of turquoise with a belt or handbag. If you love being tanned, the vibrant orange is a good color choice for you.  If the head-to-toe orange look is too bold for you, you still can accentuate your orange attire via orange shoes, bags, belts, or any accessories.LOVE IN NEON BRIGHTS

Christopher Kane,Paul Smith, MiuMiu,Damir Doma

When I think of neon colours it makes me think of youth, street fashion. Christopher Kane has taken inspiration from Princess Margaret- The original Royal bad girl!! He seems to capture lady like and still make it look provocative and modern. His collection was a mix of lace, silks, prints and leather all in fluorescent bright colours. He’s a genius.

CHRISTOPHER KANE SHOES

LOVE IN YELLOW

MaxaMara, Osman Yousef Zada

Yellow always makes me feel good! It has this amazing power to make you feel good. It has a warm feel good factor which reminds me of the summer and is this seasons sunniest hue.

CHANEL NAIL POLISH ‘LA SUNRISE”

Perfume trends

Fresh baked bread, the smell of the seaside. It’s often the little things-a taste, a smell, a texture that re-ignites memories. Scientist have discovered our senses are stimulated while we’re undergoing an emotional experience and sound, taste or smell is locked into the memory.

Chanel N5, L’Air Du Temps, Posion,Anais Anais,Opium, Angel, CK one, Rive Gauche, Coco, Beautiful,J’adore,Eau Dynamisante,Shalimar, Joy Blue grass,Lime Basil and Mandarin…These are the Top selling perfumes of all time and the reason behind this is because for many people they keep going back to their favourites as they hold memories.

Perfume is thousands of years old and the word Perfume comes from the Latin per fume which means ‘through smoke’. One of the oldest uses of perfume comes from the burning of incense and herbs. The Egyptians were the first to use perfume in their culture, they also invented glass and perfume bottles!!

Right that’s your History lesson over…Lets talk about what scents make you feel younger? Sexier? And what men really think about our choices!

When a group of men were polled on what they liked they answered with ‘Just out of the shower’,’ like the girl next door..natural’, ‘Something that smells expensive and sophisticated’, ‘If it’s got a kick..reminds me of a girl with attitude’

Then the negative feedback was ‘smelt powdery..like your grandmother’ ( Spy’s tip is if the bottle is  on your Nan’s dressing table then it shouldn’t be on yours! Sorry Nan! ‘Too fruity and sugary which makes them think of the candy store and kitchen…not the bedroom!

Here’s some of the best to see you through 2010!

HERMES -EAU DES MERVEILLES This fragrances notes are commonly found in men’s cologne! It is unique in that it is feminine but with a strong woodsy (I think it is oak or cedar) tone to it. It isn’t heavy though, in fact it is very light, very clean, subtly floral, subtly spicy and oaky. All in all, a modern and unique fragrance. It’s one of Spy’s favourites!

Benefit‘s cute Crescent Rowis a trio of fragrances each named after a character who embodies that scent. Military Jackets, Medals and Badges..Yes Sir!

May 2, 2010 by Jeanie Lanz-Bergin

The Military jacket seems to come back to life season after season! We see it on the backs of our Rock and Pop legends all the time. Think Cold Play, Micheal Jackson, Duran Duran, Adam and the ants!! Remember him?! Yeaks I am showing my young age!

I think the jacket looks fantastic in all forms of styles and if you wear them dressed down they really do make for a great look. Do you remember Cat Deeley in the grey Monsoon version? As soon as she was papped in it the shops sold out completely!

Khaki is back on the fashion Radar so ispyfashions top tip is what ever military or combat style you choose, as long as it is Khaki, it’s bang on trend. Try teaming it with something super feminine though- such as a floral dress. A head to to toe military look should just be worn by the British army!

How about making your own if you are strapped for extra cash. Add military inspired patches, black/silver or gold(very now) .Then swap the buttons for gunmetal/pewter ones. You could really take the look to the max by adding a antique medal or military pins sorced from antique shops or try asking your grandad!

I am a huge fan of  Christopher Decarnin’s designs for Balmain. This Devinne collection which I seriously would consider selling my house for is all about shimmering golds, Military jackets, camouflage prints and studded accents. The ultimate tough girl’s  fashion statement.

This man is responsible for the current sexy and bold signature looks that this brand are famous for. His 2010 collections included flowy gowns, pleated skirts and other elegant pieces of simplicity. I go week at the knees when I see any of his beautifully tailored jackets and blazers. The man is a genius! Shoulders and sequins don’t seem to be going anywhere soon. Mr B’s collections has a big army look along with a  slight disco bling feel going on from the last two season. The look is copied all over the high street.

Balmain seems to target shoppers who are affluent aristocrats and young girls from important and influential families. He also has a celebrity followers such as Beyonce and Rihanna.

The brand wants to represent old-school luxury. Unlike its competitors like LV and Gucci who don’t mind any one popping in their shop even if it’s only for a pair of sunglasses they can afford. Balmain has a very different outlook on its clientele. Have you ever entered one of their exquisite boutiques? Well trust me it can be very intimidating!

DYNASTY fashion is back!

Well well well! Who would have thought Krystle Carrington and Joan Collins cocktail wear would be back in the shops! Fashion has really well and truly returned to the 80′s. Are you a disco diva or a Dynasty babe?

Versace, Gucci, Dolce and Gabbana to name a few have revived the eighties era with lashings of glitter, sequins and full blown glamour. How can we forget the decade of indulgence and excess? I certainly have too many unforgiving photos to hide, so for me this  style trend is one I might want to skip!

I have to give caution to all my lovely iSpy Fashion followers: If you wore it the first time round then our advice would be to take small influences from the catwalk and leave the retro looks to the younger ones who didn’t explore the decade the first time around!

It really was a season of disco fever and party till dawn. Donatella Versace really rocked the runway in revealing satin and sequined slips. Her girls always look ready for a party so a revival to the eighties with lots of lame, lycra and puffs looked fanstastic! Go get em girls!!
