The Peplum

If you’ve flipped through a fashion magazine or gone shopping for some new spring clothes recently, you’ll know The Peplum are a HUGE trend this summer.

The peplum refers to a piece with a ruffle around the waist, which adds volume while creating a flattering hourglass shape. Tops, skirts, dresses and jackets have undergone a peplum makeover this season and it looks like this trend will be sticking around for at least the rest of the year.

The Peplum first swished into view in the forties when it appeared in the form of coats and dresses to draw attention to tiny waists. It re-emerged again in the Eighties on body- con garments to add drama.

It’s back in fashion with some of the biggest designer names from Stella McCartney, Moshino,Marc Jacobs and Chanel haute couture showcasing the shape. But it’s not just the designers that are loving it, the High street has gone mad for Peplums and it’s got to be Carole Vorderman’s signature look at the moment! Kate Moss wears Pastels

Kate moss show’s you her take on the Pastel trend..

Of course, Kate Moss wears her pastels differently to everyone else. Kate has opted for a more tailored pair of  pink trousers rather than skinny jeans and teamed her pastels with black. Sharp black shirt, structured black belt, pointy black heels. No light green or wishy washy lemon knit top for her.

Black and pink … It’s a little Pink Ladies and not as rock and roll as we are used to seeing Kate in…but i like it…Do you?

A chic piece of the moment? Believe it or not, a jumpsuit!  This season’s shapes are a little bit slouchy, not skintight, so they’re easier to wear than you think. And the uninterrupted silhouette can make you look longer and leaner. I will take one in every colour!

Jumpsuits are easy to wear because they are like dresses, you don’t have to create an outfit as it’s just ‘dress and go’! If you choose a plain coloured jumpsuit, give it a bit of  VaVa voom with some interesting statement accessories like a pastel coloured snakeskin print bag. If you choose a jumpsuit that is a load print, then pair it with simple accessories and let the clothes do the talking.

Travelling is one of my biggest passions – I love the hustle and bustle of airports, booking flights, choosing hotels, planning itineraries and of course duty free shopping. The thing is I always tend to do things very last minute – packing my suitcase and choosing an outfit for the flight are things I usually do a night or two before I leave.

As a stylist I often get asked the question”what should I wear to travel in”?

- T-Shirt

- Skinny jeans

- Blazer/Cardigan

- a scarf (such an essential when you’re travelling, especially  as it can double up to not only keep you warm but helps you look stylish as well.

The non surgical boob job

Plunging necklines….Can’t wear a bra yet you’re in need of help with a bit of scaffolding?

Cheryl Cole managed to maintain her modesty as she flaunted her cleavage in a daring Stephane Rolland dress on the Cannes red carpet. There were rumours that the 27 year old might have gone under the surgeons knife to create her sculpted look, but Spy did some further investigations and can reveal the taping technique behind her envy making pert appearance!

It’s not just Chez that is turning to the ‘Lattice work bra” technique, starlets all over the globe are being given a secret helping hand by their stylists.

The tape creates a custom-made, barely detectable bra with good firm hold – nipping, tweaking and enhancing all the right areas.

Knowing how to avoid any embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions is must before entertaining the thought of wearing the  flesh-flashing designs that have become popular on the catwalk and among the A-list.

Be careful as this little trick is best suited to ladies with smaller busts.

The new latticework technique is only feasible for those with smaller busts. The new trends are difficult to pull off for those with a fuller figure.

I usually tell my clients to find a stick-on bra. It’s a lot more secure and just fits right under the bust.
