Abbey Clancy has got to be one of the hottest footballer’s wives in the country. Recently she came 69th after dropping from 28th in 2011 in the FHM awards earlier this year.

Spy caught up with her at The Fashion Kicks 2012 event and asked the stunning model and TV presenter what she was wearing. The floor length dress with lace and black leather panelling was by the designer Phillip Armstrong, which she teamed with a pair of 6 inch Christian Louboutin black leather shoes with trade mark red soles and married it all together with an YSL beaded clutch handbag.

Abbey is married to  England footballing ace Peter Crouch and has carved herself a career as a fashion model, and Tv presenter

It’s not hard to see where Abbey gets her model good looks from when you met her mum Karen in the flesh!

Mules

PRADA’S 50′s INSPIRED FLAME RED MULES S/S2012

HOLD your horses ,mules are making a comeback. Don’t panic friends, I know what you’re all thinking..heavy heels and unflattering styles? But before you think you might pass on this trend, read on as mules have moved on considerably in the fashion stakes!

PRADA 2012

There is only rule this season,  a closed toe and an open strapless back. It’s worth noting that this summer every designer worth it’s stitch has shown the shoe from Miu Miu, Oscar de la Renta to Louis Vuitton. Who know’s if they will prove a popular hit with the fashionistas out there on the street radar as they can be very tricky to wear. Perhaps the trick is to you treating yourself to a cheaper option as the high street are awash with them.

LOUIS VUITTON MERRY-GO-ROUND HEELS

My one style tip is: Always try before you buy, as a high heeled mule with an unsupported back strap has the potential to deliver a nasty toe crunch. Trust me i know!

KURT GEIGER MULES S/S 2012

SPY’S TOP TIPS FOR PICKING THE RIGHT MULES

1. Choose bright, pastel shades to keep on trend and make heads turn this Summer 2012

2. Don’t wear them with socks, tights are acceptable but only if the weathers cold!

3. Mules can be really unflattering to your legs and if you have thick ankles be wary! A heeled mule looks best teamed with swishing skirts and dresses or a bare leg to show off slender ankles.

The Mixi Skirt

You’ve seen the Maxi dress…

Celebrities across the pond wearing the Maxi

Now say hello to it’s sassy little sister the Mixi dress!

Skirt by Zara £29.99

Spy’s style tip:

Avoid swamping your figure with a loose fitting top. Make sure you choose a figure hugging t-shirt or close fitting top tucked in. For a casual day time look team it with a cropped jacket such as a denim one to draw attention to your waist.

This skirt is so versatile and will take you through to the evening if you team it with a silky cami or printed t-shirt. Try giving this pretty skirt more of an edge by teaming it with a leather jacket and a chunky heel to balance out the floaty feel.

The Mixi skirt comes in short and longer lengths

Skirts over dresses (SOD)

April 14, 2012 by Jeanie Lanz-Bergin

HELLOOOOOO!!!  Cue new fashion trend!

Skirts over dresses (hereafter known as the SOD) seems to be a new micro-trend creeping into the wardrobes of some of fashion’s most trusted style leaders and against all odds, the finished look of this potential mish-mash can be rather effective.

‘Gossip Girl’ actress Blake Lively kicked off the movement in February  when she stepped out in a cream lace Valentino dress, with a powder blue skirt over the top. It looked pretty and feminine: so far, so good!

But for every style success story there’s a fashion failure, and Karolina Kurkova’s baggy burgundy and grey croc concoction threatened to end it all for the SOD as soon as it had begun.

The Rules to getting it right…

This look works best with a body-con dress and pencil skirt combo. Diane gets away wit a loose-fit frock as she’s gone for a thin, silky shirtdress.

Skirts should sit high so your waist is defined. Play with texture like karolina for a glossy catwalk feel.

Then DIANE KRUGER showed us all how to wear the SOD!

Diane Kruger stepped in to save the day and show us all how to wear the hot new trend . Teaming a beautiful Derek Lam floral shirt-dress with a monochorome striped skirt, the SOD was immediately back on the fashion radar.

Here at Spy HQ  we are loving the new trend as you can have a root in your bulging wardrobe and try revamping a tired old dress into a hottttt new look! So what are your thoughts? Do you think it’s a great new way to mix tnextures, clashing prints and combing bright new colours. It’s very Street Style, will it find it’s way into your wardrobe soon?

R is for RAFFIA

MICHAEL KORS SANTORIN BAG

Raffia is always a big hit when the sun starts to shine. Spy’s top tip is to invest now and you’ll be ahead of the fashion pack. Burberry Prorsum, Michael Kors and Dolce and Gabbana loved it for their collections so if it’s good enough for them it’s good enough for us right?

The rough texture gives a care-free , bohemian, arty feel to whatever it decorates.

Raffia is a straw-like woven fabric made from palm tree leaves and what i love about it is its soft pliable feel yet it’s strong enough to last you from summer to summer. I’ve got my Raffia bag..Have you!?

Spring 2012 shoe and bag must haves

Must-have Spring shoes and bags
Spring 2012 is all about blocks of colour and striking designs, but not for clothes. The fashion gods have decreed that this spring, less is more when it comes to colour at least. Pale floaty materials and neutral palettes are the order of the day but set off by bold handbags and shoes.
Although kitten heels are making a welcome comeback, tall chunky platforms in a wearable sporty style are also the footwear to be seen in.
Chunky ?
Or slim heel?
When it comes to handbags UK women love to accessorise; after all, it doesn’t matter how much you weigh when it comes to picking a fabulous clutch and this season is all about the bags, jewellery and shoes to make the outfit. With the clothes making you a pale princess, you will need the extras to inject that bit of pizzazz into your style.

Does Pale Make You Pall?
Light coloured clothing can be difficult to pull off, depending on what garments you pick and your overall shape. Clingy items in light colours can be very unforgiving even to the most sylph-like figures. If this is the case, rather than opting for an all-over effect, use your shoes and handbag to give the nod to the trend.
Pale Colours are key for summer 2012
Put it on your wish list
A number of designers have opted for this approach with Chloe offering a gorgeous, gentle toffee-toned crocodile clutch and Philip Lim showcasing a pair of ice-blue pastel, open toed block heels. Even Chanel has got in on the act with a pair of beige coloured sunglasses adorned with crystals.
Pearly Queens
When it comes to jewellery, pretty much anything goes as long as it’s loud, proud and designed to get you noticed! Depending on whether you choose the all over colourless approach or the more subtle neutral accessories, it will determine whether you select bright or natural colour jewellery.
Big is best according to the designers, with single stone oversized pendants being the accessory to be seen in, regardless of colour.
Over sized necklaces or vintage style are the order of the day
However, the one stone making an appearance everywhere is the pink pearl. Whether you go for an attention-grabbing ring, a jangly bracelet or an oversized pendant, the pink pearl is this season’s must-have. If you have opted for the neutral accessories, it will complement beige and pastel tones beautifully.
Exotic Skins or Lace But Not Both
Snake print
Lace
When it comes to your handbag, you’ve got two main choices this season; you either go very bright or gentle and romantic with lace trimmed offerings. The designers have gone wild with exotically coloured skins, a twist on the classic crocodile skin handbags. Orange and green are the new colours seen on the catwalk whilst purple and red continue their rejuvenation.
Green
Neutral
If a kaleidoscope of colour isn’t your thing, the slightly more refined choice displayed at the shows was the lace effect. Everyone from Prada through to Valentino had a lace handbag in their collection with some including a frilly lace clutch and others jazzing up a more functional satchel with the trim.
Prada shoe boot with lace detailing
Going for Bronze
No outfit is complete without make-up to match and this season, the look is tannedÖfaked of course. Using a tinted moisturizer on cheeks and bronze eyelids and lips will give a gorgeous glow that will set off the neutrals in your overall style.

Ralph Lauren-Denim and Supply

December 4, 2011 by Jeanie Lanz-Bergin

The essential Ralph ingredients were out in force at the European launch of Denim & Supply – the brand’s new vintage-inspired denim line – which has finally arrived to take up over where Polo Ralph Lauren left off.

Fashion and Music.. what a perfect mix! Designers are inspired by musicians, and musicians benefit from creating a look with the help of designers so it was a really smart move for Ralph Lauren to bring the two together. Denim and Supply looks to be a style which is a little rock n’roll.

Metronomy were part of the big launch of Denim&Supply in Europe. The party was held in Amsterdam

Ralph Lauren’s newest diffusion line, is a more sophisticated, grown-up line than their casual sporty Ralph Lauren Polo Jeans brand, and is now available to buy on line in the UK and worldwide. Designed to tap into a more contemporary market than the rest of Ralph Lauren’s offshoots (and with more affordable prices to match), Denim & Supply has a hipster vintage Americana vibe that is more cool than preppy.

Inspired by ‘the warehouse and artist communities of Brooklyn’ , the clothes have a rustic bohemian feel, with an emphasis on lived-in looks and distressed denim.

BAG £80

Inspired with a bohemian spirit, the leather trimmed messenger bag is made of soft wool in a wonderful grey Navajo print.

The first collection is filled with chunky cable-knit sweaters, ripped denim jeans in flattering fits, washed-out tees and faded lumberjack shirts. The overall look is comfy, cozy and casual, yet still poised and put-together which has left us lusting for autumn’s arrival already!

Shirt dresses

November 22, 2011 by Jeanie Lanz-Bergin
Filed under Shop the wardrobe

With the tailoring/androgyny trend taking autumn by storm, the perfect way to make a seamless autumn to winter transition is by investing in a shirt dress.

CHLOE 2011

H&M SNAKE PRINT DRESS

With a nod to the boyfriend trend, a shirt dress is still feminine enough to flatter your curves and make you feel suitably girly. And the style is perfect for work, travel and looking casually cool for a night of cocktails and canapes.

ASOS FLORAL DRESS

While it’s true that the shirtdress is a pitch-perfect choice for day dressing, we’d also like to point out that it can work equally well in the evening too!

Salvatore Ferragamo

Smart collars and button-down shirts are not only for the boys. This summer season marks the return of a favoured classic trend, the oversized boyfriend shirt. The shirt dress seems to have been around forever, and the designers are still churning them out.

KIM KARDASHIAN

A classic shirt dress

This trend is suitable for most women as it’s not restricted to certain body types, and it is comfortable and airy. There are a few ways it can be worn. Throw your shirt dress over some leggings with some cute shoes for work, or pair it with a thin belt for casual occasions on the weekend. You can also wear it open on top of an outfit as a lightweight jacket. Spy’s top tip is to wear it with clashing accessories to give it an air of ‘eccentric lady’ so it looks more vintage style than prim and proper.

STREET STYLE

If you are a mix and matcher, an over sized white shirt is a great investment. It is a great staple piece and leaves a lot of room for creativity. Get inventive and mix it up with some silk scarves, belts and a bit of light layering.
